KwaZulu-Natal has a series of imposing waterfalls. The most well known of these are undoubtedly the Thukela Waterfall, the second highest waterfall in the world, and Howick Falls. The following is a list of the most well known waterfalls in this province.

  • Albert Falls
    Near Cramond, about 18km north of Pietermaritzburg. Located below the Albert Falls Dam,in the Albert Falls Resources Reserve. The falls are the focal point of an inviting spot for bird watching and picnicking.
  • Angel Falls
    Southern Drakensberg. Situated in The Garden Castle area.
  • Bingini Falls
    South of Giants Castle in the Drakensberg.
  • Crystal Falls
    Monks Cowl Area, Central Drakensberg. This waterfall and pool are a welcome respite on a hot day.
  • Doreen Falls
    Cathedral Peak area, Drakensberg. Along The Mlambonja River, Cathedral Peak Reserve.
  • Emaweni Obathwa Falls
    Abatwa was the Zulu name for the San.
  • Hlambanasoge Falls
    On a tributary of the Umgeni River.
  • Howick Waterfall
    Near Howick.The Umgeni River plunges close to 100m into the gorge below.
  • Ka Dedakushe Falls
    Giants Castle area, Southern Drakensberg Falls directly east of the main Giants Ridge, across the main valley from the Meander Hut.
  • Karkloof Falls
    Karkloof Nature Reserve. Midlands, 22km north of Howick on the road to Rietvlei.
  • Klip River Falls
    Near The Junction Of The Klip River With The Tugela. Also Called The Little Niagara Falls.
  • Kochs Falls
    On A Tributary Of The Umgeni River.
  • Kranskloof Waterfall
    Kloof, Durban.An impressive sight as the Emolweni River plunges 88m and later joins up with the Umngeni river.
  • Lehr Waterfall
    Oribi Gorge. a thin wisp of water drops into the Oribi gorge.
  • Mangeni Falls
    Mangeni.Close to Mangeni between Kranskop and Vryheid.
  • Mooi River Waterfall
    Near Edengrove. A rocky gorge is pelted with the weight of water falling 80m from an upper ridge of the Mooirivier. Visits to the falls must be arranged.
  • Mpushini Falls
    South-West of Eshowe.
  • Neptunes Pool.
    4,2 Km from Cathedral Peak Hotel, Drakensberg.
  • Nungwane Falls
    On the Nungwane River.
  • Nyosi Falls
    Cathedral Peak area, Central Drakensberg. A small falls on upper reaches of the Nyosi River, above Blue Pool.
  • Nzinga Falls
    Off Nottingham Road/ Impendle Road
  • Ribbon Falls
    Cathedral Peak Area, Central Drakensberg. On a stream 3kms south of the Cathedral Peak Hotel.
  • Sterkspruit Falls
    Cathkin Area, Central Drakensberg. An imposing waterfall approximately 2km north of Champagne Castle Hotel.
  • Tugela Falls
    Mont-Aux-Sources Plateau, Northern Drakensberg.
  • Thukela Waterfall
    On the Thukela river just below Colenso.
  • Van Damms Cascade
    Cathkin Area, Drakensberg.
